I'm just four days away from my three-level ACDF surgery. If you're considering the surgery, have it scheduled, or are anything like me, you probably found this video by googling ACDF surgery. I know I watched every video I could find—at this point, I almost feel like I could perform the procedure myself if a sudden zombie apocalypse wiped out all the real doctors!
Join me as I share my pre-surgery thoughts on my drive to Scottsdale, Arizona, to meet Dr. Khalsa for my upcoming ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) surgery. I'm Tony Overbay, 55 years old, and I was extremely active before what I initially thought was a simple pulled muscle. It all started during a Peloton “Arms and Intervals” workout on Sunday, December 29, 2024. I ignored the pain for a couple of weeks, assuming it would go away—but it never did. Not for a second. It was relentless. That led to an MRI, which ultimately led to the decision to have surgery.
I've been experiencing debilitating pain due to cervical vertebrae issues, and in this video, I talk about my symptoms, the diagnostic process, and the journey that brought me here. I’ll share what it’s been like to navigate doctor visits, weigh treatment options, and manage daily life with chronic pain.
My goal is to document this experience to help others who are on a similar path and provide insight into what to expect in the post-surgery journey. Whether you're preparing for ACDF surgery or just curious about the process, this video is a safe space. Stay tuned for updates, and feel free to share your thoughts or questions in the comments!
